9News Fix This Team:

Becky Ditchfield
Growing up, Becky always considered herself crafty. She remembers her grandmother having her repaint her old picture frames to make them look new. Becky’s family owned a plumbing company that installed new plumbing in brand new homes. Construction was something she became familiar with, and she loved touring the homes, seeing what people had done.

Naturally, when Becky bought her first home, she bought it with the intent to completely update it. Some things (like adding a new bathroom), she got help for. Others, she wanted to tackle on her own. Becky has painted, tiled, built cabinet doors, installed lights and appliances and made old things new. She says it has felt good to be able to accomplish a project for significantly less money because she could do it myself. That's when she truly caught the do-it-yourself bug!

Since then, she’s moved and doesn't have as much time for the big projects, especially with her young children. In fact, most of the things she focuses on now are for her kids! While Becky loves her DIY projects, they can't take up a lot of time, they are always on a budget and most importantly, they have to look good!

Vida Urbanos
Vida has always loved creating things around her home. From sewing her own clothes in high school and college, to renovating three homes, her mind is always exploring new ideas.

Now that Vida has twins in elementary school, they are always looking for ways to create new crafts. She finds it's a way to spend quality time and bond together. She is also looking for fun creative cooking with the kids to save time and money.

Vida knows these days, everyone is busy but she want ways to bond with friends and family.

Raquel Villanueva
Raquel’s love for crafting began when she was seven - in a foreign country. She was visiting her grandmother in Bolivia when they stopped by a street market with a craft section. Raquel fell in love with the endless rows of bright yarn colors and cross-stitch sets. She begged her mom for a starter kit - from there - an obsession was born!

Raquel loves DIY because it's a chance to add in her personal style and make a project feel special to her. She also likes coming up with gift ideas that come from the heart - using photos and memories to give people she cares about something they will never find in store.

Nothing makes Raquel happier than helping people tap into their creative side.

The Habitat ReStores sell home improvement materials, such as appliances, furniture, cabinetry and more, to the public at a significant discount. All net proceeds from the ReStores help Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver build more homes and serve more families in the community. New and gently used home improvement material donations are always accepted. There are five ReStores in the Denver Metro area, Aurora, Denver, Highlands Ranch, Littleton, and Wheat Ridge.
